The Affordable Art Fair is in its 33rd year this spring. This event allows savvy shoppers to peruse thousands of art pieces in all kinds of mediums. Attendees can find original photographs, paintings, sculptures, and prints from a wide range of artists at the Affordable Art Fair.

Affordable Art Fair History
The Affordable Art Fair was originally established in 1999 in London’s Battersea Park. Since then, this event has grown substantially to include 10 major cities throughout the world, including right here in New York.
These days, the Affordable Art Fair in New York City is a bi-annual event, with showings in both Spring and Fall. If you cannot make it to the Spring event, running March 22-26, be sure to check out the fall event running Sept. 20-24.

NYCxDESIGN Festival
NYCxDESIGN is a non-profit organization dedicated to growing New York City’s design sector. Every year during Design Week, they host a festival where creators from around the world gather to share ideas and collaborate. International Contemporary Furniture Fair
The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) is a great opportunity to find high quality, beautiful furniture pieces on the cutting edge of design. ICFF is a trade fair that takes place during Design Week’s NYCxDESIGN Festival. Every year, it welcomes 10,000 attendees from around the world, showcasing furniture from over 400 brands. It is also held during the same time and place as other major design fairs like WantedDesign.
What to Do at ICFF
At ICFF, you can catch a glimpse of the hottest new design trends. You can take in special exhibitions or pursue the main show floor. There, you will find everything from furniture to carpets, wall coverings, and fixtures. This year, ICFF is teaming up with LightFair to feature the newest technology and designs in the lighting world. Visitors can also enjoy ICFF + WantedDesign Manhattan Talks, a series of panels and presentations featuring some of design’s brightest stars.

- Dates: May 21-23. First two days for trade professionals only. May 23, tickets are available to the public.
- Location: The Javits Center, 429 11th Avenue
- Ticketing: Register here. If you buy tickets before May 7, you can get a discounted rate of $75. After May 7, prices go up to $200. Discounts available for students and faculty.
- Transportation: Near Penn Station and the 34th Street Hudson Yards 7 stop.
The New York Tabletop Show
Created by the Tabletop Association, the New York Tabletop Show is a biannual event that brings together the best chefs, restaurateurs, interior designers, and retailers to display the newest the tabletop industry has to offer. This includes everything from plates and bowls, to silverware and glass.
What to Do at the New York Tabletop Show
You can take in exhibitions from a variety of brands, including those listed here. There will be 37 companies and over 100 brands represented at the show, so you are sure to find a variety of tableware to inspire you. The New York Tabletop Show will be held this spring, April 18-21. Held twice a year, the Tabletop show will also have another event available in the fall on October 10-13.

Design on a Dime
In 2023, Design on a Dime is celebrating its 18th year. This event is a bargain hunter’s dream. Run by and benefiting Housing Works, Design on a Dime features up to 70 curated vignettes, created by some of the US’s best interior designers. The furniture displayed in these vignettes is for sale at deep discounts–sometimes up to 80% retail prices.
What to Do at Design on a Dime
Visitors can explore the curated vignettes and shop for discounts on in-demand brands. In addition to shopping on the main floor, there is also a special, ticketed event offered on Thursday, April 20th. Held on Opening Night, the VIP Cocktail and Preview Hour allows guests to socialize and take in the designs before shopping opens. Then beginning at 6:30, guests with tickets can begin shopping before Design on a Dime opens to the general public the next day.
Going on opening night can be a bit pricey–tickets begin at $200. But, if you want to avoid the crowds while ensuring that you have the best selection of furniture from which to choose, it can absolutely be worth it. Not to mention the fact that the proceeds from the event go to support Housing Works’ mission to end AIDS and homelessness.

- Date: April 19-22. The 19th is an awards dinner not open to the public.
- Location: The Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street
- Ticketing: Tickets for opening night, April 20, begin at $200. Admission on April 21-22 is free and open to the public.
